Moose's Tooth Pub & Pizzeria Anchorage, AK

So, you've landed in Anchorage Alaska to start your next adventure and you've got a huge appetite from your travels. What If I told you there was a place where the food is so good that the pizza, beer, and "diablo sticks" nearly have a cult following? Well, get ready to see some tie-dye and join me for a trip to the Moose's Tooth.

When you pull up to the restaurant, no matter the hour it is always bustling with people. With that in mind, it's practically tradition to put your name on the list, grab a buzzer, then a pint and enjoy their great outdoor patio and fire pit. All part of the experience! For this trip, my friend went with the YellowEye P.A. (named after the hardy Yelloweye Rockfish you'll find in Alaskan waters) and I went with their Strawberry Rhubarb Seltzer on tap.

When it comes to choosing your meal, there are a lot of options for everyone! I counted 35 pizza options on their menu.
European baguette cut into slices, served with smoked salmon spread, red onions, lemon wedges and capers.
Smoked Alaskan Sockeye Salmon Spread

We started our meal with an Alaskan favorite of Smoked Sockeye Salmon Spread. When summer is in full swing and the local fisheries are bustling, it's the time of year for this cold dip. It came with the onion and capers on the side, making it great for anyone that likes more or less of either thing. The sliced baguette was a generous portion instead of the standard 5 pieces that most places hand over, leaving you asking for more! The dip itself had great flavor, and was not made with too much cream cheese so you could really get the salmon flavor.

Choosing a pizza was hard. However, having their menu separated into categories like veggie, meat, and chicken really helps not make it too overwhelming.

Chicken Parmesan Pizza

After much debate, we decided to go with their Chicken Parmesan Pizza. Served on a perfectly baked crust that had the wonderful ratio of crunchy edges to chewy inside, I was in pizza bliss. Marinara, garlic oil, mozzarella, provolone, and breaded chicken are topped with freshly chopped basil and parmesan to bring it all together. You might think this would make it a heavy pizza, but they are obviously masters at their craft and had everything spread out for a perfect bite each time.

Cheesecake Of The Month - Apple Pie

Not only is this place known for their great pizza and beer, but their desserts are a must! Which just means you'll have left overs from your main dishes to take home to ensure you can fit some sweet goodness into your mouth at the end of the meal. It's a win, win! I went with their cheesecake of the month, which lucky for me was Apple Pie Cheesecake. A buttery pie crust lined the bottom, while sliced apples coated in what I imagine to be delicious brown sugar and cinnamon were laid just under the layer of silky cheesecake. Topped off with a glorious drizzle of caramel, just typing about this makes me wish I had a slice with me right now.

Between the friendly staff and top notch food, I really enjoyed my experience at Moose's Tooth Pizzeria & Pub and I hope you'll make it there one day as well! Until next time. I have some cheesecake calling my name..
